Siren
Singing figures whose voices lure sailors toward destruction.
Legend File
Sirens are dangerous because they attack desire rather than flesh. Their song promises knowledge, beauty, or home, depending on what the listener most wants. Odysseus survives by being bound to the mast while his crew blocks their ears, turning self-control into the only safe way to hear forbidden music.
Source Framing
Greek myth, especially Odyssey Book 12 and later traditions of half-bird, half-woman Sirens whose song endangers sailors.
