Underworld ยท Norse world

Hel

The Norse underworld ruler whose realm receives many who do not die in battle.

Legend File

Hel is both a being and the name attached to her realm, a cold underworld for many of the dead outside heroic battle fame. Daughter of Loki in medieval Norse sources, she embodies death as administration rather than frenzy. Her threshold is quiet, grim, and difficult to bargain with.

Old Norse mythology in Eddic and medieval Icelandic sources around Hel: Loki and Angrboda's daughter, sister of Fenrir and Jormungandr, ruler and namesake of the underworld realm receiving many non-battle dead.

Archival-style cold underworld plate for Hel with a pale threshold figure, stone doorway, frost, mist, and quiet realm studies.
