Monsters ยท Philippines

Aswang

A shapeshifting night predator feared in Filipino folklore.

Legend File

The Aswang is less one creature than a family of fears: witch, ghoul, vampire, shapeshifter, and night hunter. It may look ordinary by day and become monstrous after dark. The legend thrives because it makes suspicion local; the danger might not live in a distant castle, but in the next village or even the next house.
