Pontianak

A vengeful female spirit associated with night, trees, and childbirth.

Legend File

The Pontianak appears in Southeast Asian folklore as a beautiful and terrifying spirit, often connected to death in childbirth. Her presence may be signaled by fragrance or a baby's cry before the threat becomes clear. Like many ghost stories, she turns social vulnerability into supernatural force, refusing to let forgotten pain stay silent.
