Māui

A Polynesian culture hero known for slowing the sun and fishing islands.

Legend File

Maui is a trickster hero whose deeds reshape the physical world. In different Polynesian traditions he slows the sun, lifts the sky, and fishes up islands from the sea. His stories have the scale of creation myth but the energy of mischief, making him feel like a hero who hacks reality rather than simply rules it.
