Kelpie

A Scottish water-horse that lures riders into deadly depths.

Legend File

The Kelpie is a shape-shifting water-horse of Scottish folklore, beautiful enough to invite trust and dangerous enough to make that trust fatal. It may appear by a loch or river, tempting people to ride before carrying them into the water. The story gives drowning a face and hooves, turning landscape danger into a creature.
