Chang'e

The Chinese moon goddess whose ascent follows immortality, separation, and the long gaze toward the moon.

Legend File

Chang'e turns the moon into a home and a distance. In major retellings she is linked to Hou Yi, the elixir of immortality, and the lonely brilliance of lunar ascent. Mid-Autumn memory softens the sorrow with offerings, poems, and mooncakes, but the story keeps its ache: immortality can lift a person beyond reach.
